A relevant person’s representative (RPR) is an appointed friend or relative of an adult (known as the ‘relevant person’) who is subject to a deprivation of liberty safeguards (DoLS). Their role is to act on the adult’s behalf, in their best interests. If there is no suitable family member or friend, a paid professional will be appointed.
